On this virtual tour of Maui, we'll take you to see Maui's wide
variety of terrain, climate, and life. We thought we'd start with what everyone
associates with Hawaii: beaches. This shot is directly across from the Maui Lu
resort in north Kihei, at the south end of Mai Poina Oe Iau beach (or, forget me not
beach, dedicated to veterans). Head north from this monument to Captain Vancouver,
and you'll be walking on the longest continuous stretch of sand in the entire state of
Hawaii (4 miles)!
South Maui is home to miles of beaches of every kind. From white sand to black, from big beach to little, south Maui, like the west side, is famous for beaches. The south side has a beach for anyone, secluded, romantic beaches and even a nude beach (little beach).
We have some awesome south Maui pictures at Hawaii-stuff.com!
Heading
south from the abundance of affordable condominium accommodations in Kihei, you'll reach
Wailea and Makena where the newest (and some of the most luxurious) resorts line the coast
in a master planned development. For secluded coast, follow the road to the end then
hike the La Pèrouse Bay areahome of Maui's last lava flow and the first place white
men stepped on the island.
Click here to move on to the west side where the water is clear, the history is rich, and the weather is almost always perfect.
